
Futih Laura
Futih Laura is deputy executive director for the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa (CHRDA), Cameroon and President of Her Innovation Cameroon (HIC). Her work focuses on programs and project coordination relating to the respect and promotion of Human rights especially the rights of women, children and other minorities in the society. Most of the projects she has undertaken and coordinated centres on developmental issues, the inclusion of women, youths and girls in leadership and democratic processes, peace negotiations and mostly especially encouraging girls and women to be involved more in stem education and STEM fields to foster innovation and development. She is responsible for overseeing all running projects in the organization and also doubles as head of Administration and Finance thus she plays are major role in building sustainable relationships with partners and stakeholders.
Futih holds a master’s degree in Business administration (finance) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria and a bachelor in Economics from the university of Buea. In Cameroon. Futih has also gained certificates in leadership in the civic space, project management, prevention of sexual violence and abuse and civic engagement from institutions such as YALI, UNICEF, UN Women and ACEA in partnership with the university of Georgia in the USA. Before to joining CHRDA, she worked in a private owned tertiary institution as a lecturer in Micro Economics. She’s fluent in English and has a mastery of the French language at working level. Studying in two different African countries has strengthened her ability to understand common issues or problems plaguing Africa and makes it easy for her to work with people for diverse backgrounds.
